Wendy used to work in a Pickle Factory and made up funny songs about pickles!
Frieda, Wendy's Mom, used to drive a school bus. She hated cleaning up after sick kids, so she had Wendy offer her lunch box once! ... OOPS!
Frieda says Wendy still hasn't forgiven her for that one.
Wendy was a real Tom Boy (would you believe it) growing up.
I was constantly trying to get her to play with dolls and would make all kinds of outfits for them. Wendy much preferred playing with Tonka trucks and helping her father in the pig barn. She especially enjoyed watching her uncle kill our chickens.
She was always asking me for blue jeans. I did not like them but finally broke down and bought her a pair for her 16th birthday and after that she turned into a girl. All my worrying for nothing.
She was and still is always looking after all her brothers. They were well brought up because of her. They did not always appreciate it.
When I had my youngest sons they were 2 months premature, which at that time was not good.
When by a miracle of God both lived and I brought the first on home after a month and the second one the next month, Wendy suggested "No more babies, Mom!" I think she thought I was going to bring one home every month. She was 2 1/2 at that time.
I know I am prejudiced as a mother but she has been an absolutely wonderful daughter. She has not ever given us any grief.
She is thoughtful and kind but also is not afraid to take leadership. She has so much creativity and she surely did not get that from me. But she has been developing it in her life forever.
She is a wonderful wife for Serge. (I do take a little credit for that because I taught her well.)
She was in a major production in grade one or two when there was an outbreak of measles.
Wendy had already had measles when she was younger, so when she turned up sick on the day before the production the teacher asked me if she could be coming down with measles. I comforted her with the knowledge that she already had it.
I let her have a good rest that day and she did her part wonderfully but the next day was covered from head to toe with red spots.
Wendy has worked in the creative department of our church for the past 26 years. She has worked in every area of the church but she was very good with all the children. They absolutely love her.
She has organized and directed some very major dramatic productions over the years. Some that our town has asked her to do in the town for celebrations.
Wendy will go out of her way to meet people. She once drove 2 hours because a bridge was out to meet Jim & A'Lona who were only really 15 minutes away!
She can even entice others to go out of their way for her! At dinner with Jim & A'Lona, the waiter went across the street to get Wendy a Diet Coke because all the restaurant offered was Diet Pepsi.
Wendy will announce her birthday to strangers on the street. As a matter of fact, Friday (the day before her birthday), she announced it at lunch at a restaurant she frequents. She had no less than 3 offers to buy her lunch from strangers, but the restaurant owner picked up the tab!
